Back in March of 2024, I asked my social media channels a simple question: “Where did the baby blue for JST come from?”
The answers that I received made my heart smile! So many of you answered mentioning my son, my mental health journey through this business, and the emerald coast. The pure thought that many of you know our story and how we founded this business truly makes my heart pour with love.

But the answer is….
Founded in 1976, Spirit of Atlanta is a World Class competitive drum and bugle corps, based in Atlanta, Georgia. I began my personal journey with them in November of 2005.
I attended my first audition camp having no clue where I was, what I was doing, and what I was auditioning for. I just knew that my band director thought it would be good for me.

After being confused for a color guard member, that young 16 year old girl was offered a contract to play trumpet with this world class organization. I would spend the next 5 seasons playing trumpet, conducting back field, and ultimately becoming a drum major for this organization. I took time off from 2011-2014. In November of 2014, I joined the administration team for the 2015 season. I continued on this path for two more full seasons and one partial season.

From California to Maine, I have had the opportunity to travel all over the country and perform in some amazing stadiums. In my time with Spirit, I learned some major life lessons and connected with some life long friends.
My first tattoo was a symbol that stands for “peace, love, and Spirit”. My junior prom date was one of my best friends from Spirit. My senior prom dress was baby blue and I wore my deltas, our organizations logo. In college, my senior trumpet recital gown was baby blue with matching baby blue converse. Our main color at our wedding was baby blue. My maid of honor and one of my bridesmaids in my wedding I meet at Spirit. I have sponsored other members financially so they can be part of this amazing family. I have attended our 2023 Hall of Fame. We do a monthly contribution as Delta Club members to continue to show our financial support. And the list truly goes on and on.

So when I created this business, it only seemed appropriate to go with baby blue. We have a saying in the corps and I believe this is one of the most true statements since I was 16 years old… “I bleed baby blue”.
